Triumph Tiger 1200 (2022-2026) Headlight Adjuster Modification
A common issue with the Triumph Tiger 1200 (2022-2026) is that the headlight is aimed too high from factory, the second issue is that the headlight level adjuster on many bikes are too stiff to be turned.
On investigating the issue, we found that the rubber grommet which holds the adjuster dial in place was simply too tight, not allowing the dial to be turned without significant force. We have designed a replacement grommet which fixes this issue.
This article describes how to disassemble the motorcycle and remove the headlight in order to complete the modification.
NOTE: CARRY OUT THIS MODIFICATION AT YOUR OWN RISK. THIS ARTICLE IS PROVIDED AS GUIDANCE ONLY AND ANY WORK SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY A COMPETENT PERSON. WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR INJURY THAT MAY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF ATTEMPTING THIS MODIFICATION.
Step 1: Remove side pod bolts
Use a 5mm allen head to remove the bolt holding the side pod to the headlight bracket (1x bolt per side).

Step 2: Remove infill panel from side pod
Using a trim tool or your fingers, pry the infill panel of the front side pods gently inward toward the centre of the bike. It will unclip from the side pod and can be removed. There are clips at the front and rear of the infill.

Step 3: Disconnect Indicator and remove bolt holding side pod to fairing
Press release tab and unclip each of the wires to the indicator. Use a 5mm allen key to remove the bolt holding the side pod onto the side fairing. Remove side pod and store safely.

Step 4: Remove windscreen and infill panel
Remove the windscreen by removing the 4x 5mm allen key screws holding it in place and store safely. Remove the infill panel on the windscreen bracket by pulling it toward you. This is held in place by pins into rubber grommets.

Step 5: Remove the windscreen bracket
Unscrew and remove the 4x 5mm allen key bolts which hold the windscreen bracket in place. Remove windscreen bracket.

Step 6: Unscrew dash display
Remove 2x 5mm allen key bolts that hold the dash display. Ensure you carefully support the display to avoid any damage.

Step 7: Disconnect 3x cables to display / bracket
There are 3x cables connecting the display and bracket to the motorcycle. White and Black connectors (visible in photo below) both have release clips which are pressed in and plug gently disconnected. There is 1x connector to the 12v din socket, this has a black connector which does not have a release clip.
Once disconnected the display can be carefully removed and stored safely. Be extra careful not to drop or damage the display when disconnecting it from the wiring harness.
Step 8: Unclip and remove wiring harness cover
Push down on two tabs and pull back the plastic cover for the wiring harness, then push the base of the cover forward to release the two tabs which hold the lower portion of it to the subframe.

Step 9: Remove Headlight
Finally, remove the 2x M5 allen key bolts which hold the headlight unit to the subframe. To fully release and remove the headlight from the motorcycle, pull the headlight adjuster upward to slide the rubber grommet out of the subframe bracket. Once released, pull the headlight unit forward and free of the subframe.

Step 10: Replace headlight adjuster grommet, and reassemble
Now either make the modifications required to the original headlight adjuster grommet, or replace with our modified version (available here), check the operation of the adjuster (it should be free to turn using your fingers, but still with reasonable friction and without any play) and then reassemble by carrying out the reverse of the steps highlighted here.
